Halloween 2010

Halloween was so much fun this year.  Russell declared months ago that he wanted to be Harry Potter.  As is normal around here, the younger boys thought what Russell was doing sounded pretty cool, so they were Harry Potter also. Halle has pretty crazy hair and if left on it's own becomes pretty poofey and frizzy and Annie-esque.  So we thought she'd make a pretty good Annie.  She let me put in the two little braids in the back like Annie's.  It looks pretty tame in this picture, but you'll see in future pics just how crazy it gets if I don't put some curl cream or gel in it.

{We do have three wands around here someplace.  But of course, when it came time to actually use them, we could only locate two.  So Russell was such a good big brother and let the two younger boys use the wands for their costume.}

{Halle had no reservations about getting right in there.  She loved it.}

{AAAHHH, HAIR!!  Just kidding.  Halle made it for about 45 minutes then did not argue when I covered her up in the stroller.  It was very cold and windy.  The boys made it another 30 minutes or so.}

After we got home there was about 45 minutes left of trick or treating in our neighborhood.  The kids loved waiting at the door for trick or treaters to come by the house.

For Halloween I love doing a "gross" dinner to celebrate.  This year we had (starting at the top left and going clockwise) hot dog spiders (hot dogs with spaghetti threaded through), smiling jack bbq chicken sandwiches, rotting goblin mouths (apple slices with peanut butter and mini marshmallows), apple cider, goblin snot with scabs and pumpkin roots (green tinted cream cheese/marshmallow fluff mixture with m&ms and candy corn), witches fingers to dip in the goblin snot (apples), crescent roll spiders, and roasted sweet pumpkin seeds.  It was a hit!

So, what I want to know is...did you and Russell make their costumes. I enjoyed seeing them out trick or treating...but...looking at three shiney heads and one curly-top waiting expectantly at the door was uber-charming!! Love, mom/gma

My girls hair is the complete opposite as it's so straight that people ask me if I flat iron their hair every day (which I don't)!
